Scope Awards 2025: Tailo Recognised for Inclusive EdTech Innovation

We’re incredibly proud to share that Tailo, our AI-powered reading tool for disabled students, has won the Accessible Product Award at the 2025 Scope Awards.

These awards celebrate individuals and organisations across the UK who are driving progress towards disability equality. To be recognised by Scope, one of the UK’s most respected disability charities, is a huge honour for our team — and a meaningful milestone for our mission.

Built With and For Disabled Students

At Estendio, our products are grounded in the belief that accessibility isn’t a nice-to-have — it’s essential.

Tailo was designed to make academic reading less overwhelming and more empowering. For many students, reading complex research papers, dense journal articles or long textbooks isn't just a chore — it can be a barrier to success. Tailo uses AI to break down that barrier, offering tools like:

  • Explain This – personalised explanations for difficult concepts

  • Enhanced Search – a smart way to find exactly what matters

  • Distraction-free reading – clean, customisable layouts to reduce cognitive overload

We worked directly with disabled and neurodivergent students to ensure Tailo fits their needs, adapts to their preferences, and genuinely makes a difference in their daily studies.

We took a deeply methodical approach -
interviewing hundreds of disabled and neurodivergent students to ensure Tailo tackled the real-world challenges they face. This award is a powerful testimony to that effort and to the purpose-driven passion that fuels every person on our team.

Why This Award Matters

We know how hard students work to overcome inaccessible systems, especially in higher education. Being recognised with this award is a reminder of why we do what we do — and why inclusive innovation must be the norm, not the exception.

Thank You

To the students, assessors, disability advisors, and educators who’ve championed Tailo — thank you. You’ve helped shape a product we’re proud of, and an impact we’re only just beginning to see.

To Scope, thank you for amplifying voices in the disability space and recognising the power of thoughtful design.

What’s Next?

We’re excited to keep growing, keep listening, and keep building technology that makes education more inclusive for everyone.

If you want to learn more about Tailo, or bring it to your university, visit our website or reach out to us directly.

Here’s to more progress, more partnership — and more possibilities.
